Marc
Bolan left a phenominal amount of recorded work, spanning
his thirteen year career, confirming his energy, drive and
ambition as a musician. Over the last two decades unheard
solo and T.Rex studio recordings have been made available,
much of this material has increased our knowledge of Bolan's
working methods, and in many cases, reveals aspects of his
work not appreciated during his lifetime. Indeed, as with
other superstars of the time, the music of Marc Bolan was
originally considered as, transient contemporary popular music.
Today it has relevance and cultural value.
shadowhead
brings together some of the classic album tracks and singles
recorded for release through EMI for the period 1972 - 1976,
financed by Bolan's own record label, T.Rex Wax Co.
Here
we aim to reveal more of the instruments and sounds from the
master tapes in order to enable the working processes to be
more clearly understood, whilst keeping the essence of the
music in it's classic form.
This
release is a collection of previously unissued session takes,
working and master versions and mixes.
